Petrified- The Final Cut

This is the final cut of our film opening. We have made drastic changes in comparison to our first cut. We used our old footage but also filmed some more adding the scenes of the character 'Jenna'. We filmed this footage between the 10th and 12th of March. Given the feedback we received from our target audience, we changed the film opening to the requirements of the audience.

Petrified -First Cut

This is the first cut of our film opening. At first we thought it would be suitable as a film opening, however after being given feedback and looking at it more that it seems more of a trailer than an actual film opening. Using the same footage, we can easily make it look like an opening with a few tweaks.

Filming

We started filming our woodland scenes on the 2nd January 2012. The weather was good for filming, and the natural light from the sun was enough to get clear shots however it rained the evening before causing the ground to be wet and muddy so we had to take extra care as we filmed as anyone could have hurt themselves. Whilst filming we had to do a numerous amount of takes on each shot, due to mistakes in which our actors had made or we could tell that it could be made better. One particular take we had to make was when I had to run up a hill, fall and then dragged down it by the murderer- that had to be done twice which was difficult seeing as I got all muddy in the first take which caused problems, however we did overcome it for the second take. It took us around 2 and a half hours to take our footage, which is reasonably good as I personally thought it would take much longer especially with us being amateurs.

Risk Assessment

Before we began filming we took a risk assessment of the area we would be using for our film to make sure that it would be safe for all those involved to work in, so no-one will end up injured or hurt in anyway.

Our Idea

A small group of young adults go camping in a woodland area, having done this numerous times the thought of anything going wrong vanished from their minds. But before long they become the targets of a psychopathic killer and their fun camping trip becomes a fight for survival. The suspense builds up as to who will be the strongest and survive. But what they didn't know is that this isn't the first time the psycho has targeted people, as years before the exact same thing happened to another group of adults in this location. This was the anniversary.

Character Profiles

Name: Jenna Mason
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Played by: Eleanor Murphy
Why?: We chose Eleanor to play the part of Jenna for our film opening because of her drama skills in which she used well for her part. Seeing as the flashbacks were from her point of view you don't see her, however we show her in a break down of what has happened using a variety of different shots.

Name: Laurie Redmond
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Played by: Rosie Busby
Why?: We chose myself to play the part of Laurie due to me being fairly small and vulnerable which is some of the characteristics of the character so it fits in perfectly.

Name: Peter Fisher
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Played by: Fin Triggs
Why?: We chose Fin to play the part of Peter because he's shy and quiet which his character was also.

Name: Michael Winters
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Played by: Matthew Neal
Why?: We chose Matthew to play the part of Michael in our film opening because he has good drama skills- perfect for the part of his character who is quite dramatic and bubbly.
Name: Jack Livington
Age:19
Gender: Male
Played by: Nick Talbot
Why?: We chose Nick to play the part of Jack, the murderer in our film opening because he's fast and good when in playing a sinister character. You don't see him often in the opening sequence, and you never see his face.
